4.         Don’t you agree that we need the plow to come down our street so that the roads can then become impassable?  The plows’ efforts are much appreciated.

5.         Rich people are so affluent that they never tend to fall in arrears’ with their mortgage payments. Instead they make the minimum payment to avoid a penalty.  Aren’t they lucky!

6.         All twenty dog’s masters experienced what it feels like when their dogs strained at their leashes, making the leashes taut.

7.         We’ve manacled the prisoners’ wrists, because if they’d been set free, their hands would then have been immobile.

8.         The childrens’ crotchety old uncle remembers the 1930’s, when people’s lives were affected by the Great Depression’s shortages.

9.         The Adams’ car broke down at the onset of the journey, just as it was arriving at its final destination.

10.       Some teachers say you shouldn’t use contractions in formal writing, otherwise you will receive F’s for grades.  Other teachers’ opinion is that if a student uses a contraction, it’s fine.  The student won’t receive an impassible grade but instead will pass with flying colors.
